The Birth of Revival: Men & Women of Prayer
Yesterday we meditated on the words from the Pen of Inspiration: “When churches are revived, it is because some individual seeks earnestly for the blessing of God.” (ChS 121) Today, we explore the transformative power of prayer in birthing revival within our churches and communities.
Revival begins with one individual (or a handful of individuals) who commit to praying and fasting together until God sends revival to the church. You can preach 52 sermons in a row on prayer and revival for a whole year, but there will be no revival if there is no one on their knees “seeking earnestly the blessing of God.” God needs men and women of prayer who “will hunger and thirst after God” and can be unobstructed channels through which the Holy Spirit and His blessings can flow out to others.

“God can use every person just in proportion as He can put His Spirit into the soul temple” (7T 144).

Day 10 Heart Challenge:
- Identify one specific area in your church or community where prayer is needed, and take the initiative to lead a prayer gathering focused on that need. Be intentional about inviting others to join you in interceding for God’s intervention in that area.
- Reach out to one or two friends or family members and invite them to join you in praying for revival in your church. Commit to praying together regularly, believing in the power of united prayer to bring about spiritual awakening.
- Prayerfully reflect the words of John Bunyan “You can do more than pray after you have prayed, but you cannot do more than pray until you have prayed,” to prepare for Day 11.
